About LA_B

Landscape Architecture _Built = Information | Inspiration | Innovation

Thanks for visiting. Our vision for LA_B is to become a leading online resource for landscape architects in their practice and study. We strive to be user-oriented and supportive to all. LA_B is a constant work-in-progress, developed by California-based New Zealand landscape designer Nicki Copley and her husband Ross Copley.

We want newcomers to the field to be welcomed with easy-to-understand and informative content that answers their questions about what landscape architecture is and could be.

We want users to browse a vast catalog of diverse projects from around the world that they can nimbly navigate to seek out case studies and inspire innovation.

We want to be the ‘go-to’ first stop for students and professionals alike to guide them to informative resources on a wide variety of topics.

We want to celebrate companies and people who challenge our expectations, our norms and ways of practice.

We want to elevate the position of students of landscape architecture and new graduates in the profession. Young people are activators of innovation and we salute them!

Would you like to see your work on LA_B? We welcome all companies, individuals and students to submit work to the site. We are particularly interested in projects that artistically and innovatively confront the demands of landscape architecture in the 21st century, such as (but not limited to) low carbon or carbon neutral landscapes, projects that address sea level rise adaptation or mitigation, or incorporate water reuse, material reuse or biodiversity enhancement.

Above all, we wish to showcase innovative and thoughtful design outcomes; landscapes of all scales that excel in their appropriateness to site and program, their uniqueness, their problem-solving, their aesthetic and artistic vision, and/or their materiality. Places or solutions that capture feelings of delight and wonder.

Projects can be built, planned but not yet implemented, or entirely theoretical.

If you have a project you think might fit that space then share it with our audience! It is easy and free to submit your work on Landscape Architecture _Built. Please help us build this resource.

We use proceeds from affiliate links and advertising to support the ongoing development and maintenance of LA_B. To pay it forward, we will donate 10% of earnings to not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing accessible and equitable environmental education/outdoor connections for all youth. For 2023 our organization of choice is the Outdoor Alliance for Kids.
